Roger is an idealistic person who can become frustrated when things don't match up with his expectations. Usually extroverted and outgoing, he tends to be the life of the party, emitting an aura that people want to be close to. He is kind and empathetic, though he may maintain a stoic exterior around strangers.

Roger doesn't trust very easily, especially after his ordeal with the hitchhiker. He becomes closed off and suspicious, trying to decipher people's ulterior motives in getting close to him.

One fateful night in 1983, Roger Cowell picked up a female hitchhiker outside of a Washington state park: a decision he’d regret for the rest of his life. When the girl turned up dead the next day, Roger tried to help the police but instead found himself charged with her murder and thrown into his worst nightmare. Now, half a year later, he has been acquitted at trial, but the court of public opinion has reached a harsher verdict.
